  1. Art Deco design has been popularised recently with Pippa Middleton's magnificent engagement ring.
  2. Jewellery from this time can be recognised as bold, geometric and often featuring strong colour.
  3. The name comes from the 'Exposition des Arts Decoratifs et Industriel Modernes' in Paris in 1925.

  5. It was also, importantly, during this time that women got the vote.
  6. Art Deco design was influenced by countries such as Greece, Africa, East Asia and Egypt - the primary discovery of this time being the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1920.
  7. Platinum became a popular setting metal for jewellery during this time as it is able to hold diamonds in a delicate framework.
  8. Cultured pearls were first farmed.
  9. Van Cleef and Arpels designed the invisible or mysterious setting which places stones on T-rail which cannot be seen.
  10. Carter made its first rolling ring during this time.
